Funeral update
Tuesday, March 27th, 2007Ok so there is about twenty things I could be doing right now but I’m not. I wanted to do an update on our firend’s funeral.
I’ve come to the realization that if I ever get married that I cannot have a church wedding. The boys are horrible in churches. One was an alter boy for this church and stood in the back the whole time. One kept making horrible comments and the other three were sitting somwhat innocently in the back. I felt like I was the teacher who is responsible for the ‘bad kids’ in the back. The good thing is the church didn’t fall down on us so that’s always a hugh plus.
Tommy’s casket was classic. Painted in about the same color as his wagon and pin striped the same. It had flames down the side and on each end it had his wagon’s license plate number and the chevy bowtie.
The car procession was awesome, we had about 30-50 cars and went though downtown Santa Ana. The funniest thing was a lady who decieded to get into our line in front of me. That cop was so pissed, I’m sure if he wouldn’t have been on the procession duty he would have givin her a ticket. Tommy’s son, who is a pretty good looking clone of his dad drove his wagon and was freaked about it. Tommy NEVER let anyone else drive is car. Everything that we all associated with him, his picnic stuff etc, was in the back of the wagon as if they were all going to a car show. It was touching.
At the gravesite, they let out doves as a tribute. Well the dove that symbolized him didn’t want to leave the box. I thought that was touching as well. Then when the rest of the doves were released, a hawk came out of nowhere and chased them.
All in all, I think the funeral fit who he was as a person and his wife and family did a great job of honoring his life and loves.
