Thirteen Things about the guide to gaining 10 lbs on a cruise.
- Dinning room – The key to the dinning room is that you can order as many of the entrees, starters, and salads as you want. So, make sure you order atleast two from every category.
- The Casual Dinning room – Open 24 hours, full buffet. So, inbetween meals, fill atleast two plates.
- Sweets and Treats between 2pm and 3pm – Go to it and at least have one of each.
- Free Alcohol – Every cruise has seminars and in some of those seminars there are free margaritas and champagne…so, make sure you find out which ones are offering the margaritas and plan on attending and ordering more than you can actually drink in the time of the seminar. You can always take the margaritas with you wherever you go on the ship.
- Shore Excursions – Make sure you pick the shore excursions that say meals, drinks and alcohol included. Chances are, it will taste way better than what you ate on the ship and you’ll probably eat twice as much of it and you’ll probably drink twice as much as you would on the ship, because you don’t have to pay more for the alcohol.
- Sunbathing – Sit and fry, but the key to gaining weight is to sit.
- Room Service – Its included in the price of the cruise, so imagine it. You can order those multiple entrees and eat them in your cabin…no walking or stumbling in the rocky boat is required to get some of that food.
- In-Cabin movies – Again, no movement, you just sit and watch all day.
- Stateroom Balcony – Why climb to the upper decks to sunbathe when you have your own personal balcony in your cabin complete with a chair to sunbathe in.
- 24 hour unlimited ice cream by the poolside. Need I say more?
- Casino – You can sit, order drinks and just sit some more and gamble just like Vegas.
- Midnight Buffet – This is when you got really drunk in the clubs and casino all night and now you have the munchies. These buffets are so outlandish that it looks like they plan that Midnight Buffet more than they plan any other meal onboard. Again, its all you can eat and there is no extra charge.
- Order a couple of sweet drinks (especially the fruity ones) every meal, if you get to know your bar waiter real well, they’ll slip you free drinks.

OHHH how I agree with you! We just got back from one and WOW the food is WONDERFUL and it seems like you can eat ALL the time!!! ACK! It was great though…
Wasn’t it? I had a great time! Unfortunately, my digestive system is having trouble adjusting to regular food. Cruise food is sooo rich.

LMAO – oh, too funny. I’ve always wanted to go on a cruise.. Now, I think I’ll wait until I can get 10 lbs underweight.. that should only take about.. lessee… couple pounds a week so I don’t starve to death.. carry the 3…allow for road trips to the local dairy queen for strawberry sundaes on those really hot days… erm… 602 years.
Seriously! I don’t think I really gained any weight on the cruise though, because Mikey and I were pretty active. We liked to walk all the decks on the boat and we didn’t take a lot of taxis in Mexico…we mostly walked and sweated it out.

Don’t forget that the food consumption balances out with “other” activities, so you should eat up.
Most definitely! But I still tried to choose the healthier options.

I’ve not been on a cruise yet, but will make it someday and I’ve saved these tips just for such an occasion.
BTW – I love the new layout, I haven’t been here for a while, sorry about that.
BBTW – glad that I’ll be renting from you, I just wondered WTF has happened to my thumbnail. I hope it’s up soon!
Everyone has to try a cruise once. It is quite an experience!
Thanks for the compliments and I hope to be a better landlord this week and actually advertise you in some posts! Last week, I didn’t do so hot in that department, because I couldn’t justify spending $100 for 55 minutes of internet time on the cruise. I thought internet was going to be cheaper than that.

I’ve always wanted to go on a cruise. I heard it was all about the eating *hehehe*
Congratulations on your marriage. Have a wonderful day. Take-Care…
It is very much all about the eating. I had no idea until I got on the boat!
My marriage is going great! Thanks!

Hmmm, maybe I’ve been on a cruise recently. Feels like I’ve gained 10 pounds this week!
Great list!
Well, if you haven’t, its a good excuse to use if people ask about it. They will just nod their heads and immediately understand!

LOL. I have been on two cruises in my life and it was amazing how abundant the food was. I could probably gain 15 pounds if I tried. I’m just talented that way.
I’m talented that way too! I’ve been coaching my skinny husband on how to gain weight…I tell him that if he wants to play with the heavy weights, he has to eat up!

yeah, but you were on a cruise, so why worry about it.
Definitely! I totally didn’t worry about it until I got off the boat for a final time…but then I took inventory and my pants didn’t feel tighter and my clothes still fit, so I guess I was ok.

LOL I’ve never been on a cruise, and cannot imagine all of the food. I couldn’t afford the 10 lbs, so I’ll have to keep this in mind!
Its definitely something to consider. Although, I can’t think of a more fun way to gain 10 lbs.
